|Mool Mantar||ik-oNkaar sat naam kartaa purakh nirbha-o nirvair akaal moorat ajoonee saibhaN gur parsaad.jap.||ONE UNIVERSAL CREATOR GOD. THE NAME IS TRUTH. CREATIVE BEING PERSONIFIED. NO FEAR. NO HATRED. IMAGE OF THE UNDYING, BEYOND BIRTH, SELF-EXISTENT.
BY GURU’S GRACE ~
CHANT AND MEDITATE:
|Man has origins in the spirit of the Creator.A mantar such as this helps ones mind to associate with the root Creator. It is usual to have dualistic thoughts but repetition of the mantra will assist to remove any doubts of origin and ultimate destination. One’s spirit is as eternal as the Creator’s, but one has to realize it.
When one recognizes ones spirit is eternal, there is no cause for fear, or to begrudge anybody.
|Salok toMool Mantar||aad sach jugaad sach.hai bhee sach naanak hosee bhee sach. ||1||||TRUE IN THE PRIMAL BEGINNING. TRUE THROUGHOUT THE AGES. TRUE HERE AND NOW. O NANAK, FOREVER AND EVER TRUE. || 1 ||||The source of ones spirit, ie that of the Creator, is very real. It has always been in existence, is so, and always will be.|

|By thinking, He cannot be reduced to thought, even by thinking hundreds of thousands of times. By remaining silent, inner silence is not obtained, even by remaining lovingly absorbed deep within. The hunger of the hungry is not appeased, even by piling up loads of worldly goods. Hundreds of thousands of clever tricks, but not even one of them will go along with you in the end. So how can you become truthful? And how can the veil of illusion be torn away? O Nanak, it is written that you shall obey the Hukam of His Command, and walk in the Way of His Will. || 1 ||||There is no way to attain consciousness of the Creator’s spirit, through illogical methods. The Creator cannot be realized as a result of deep thought, maintenance of silence, or by offering material gifts to the Creator (at any places of worship).Any other similar methods based in superstition, to try to reach out to the Creator, will make no difference to the end result.
One should accept life as is. It is the way the Creator willed so.

|By His Command, bodies are created; His Command cannot be described. By His Command, souls come into being; by His Command, glory and greatness are obtained. By His Command, some are high and some are low; by His Written Command, pain and pleasure are obtained. Some, by His Command, are blessed and forgiven; others, by His Command, wander aimlessly forever. Everyone is subject to His Command; no one is beyond His Command. O Nanak, one who understands His Command, does not speak in ego. || 2 ||||The Creator creates all without reference to others.Nobody can evade, avoid, or manipulate the circumstances in which one is born.Once one realizes one is victim of circumstances in which the Creator places one, and not because of one’s own actions, then one does not speak of others in inflated pride. One accepts any differences that exist are through the Creator’s actions.|

|Some sing of His Power—who has that Power? Some sing of His Gifts, and know His Sign and Insignia. Some sing of His Glorious Virtues, Greatness and Beauty. Some sing of knowledge obtained of Him, through difficult philosophical studies. Some sing that He fashions the body, and then again reduces it to dust. Some sing that He takes life away, and then again restores it. Some sing that He seems so very far away. Some sing that He watches over us, face to face, ever-present. There is no shortage of those who preach and teach. Millions upon millions offer millions of sermons and stories. The Great Giver keeps on giving, while those who receive grow weary of receiving. Throughout the ages, consumers consume. The Commander, by His Command, leads us to walk on the Path. O Nanak, He blossoms forth, Carefree and Untroubled. || 3 ||||There are countless different understandings of the Creator, but none knows the limits or nature of the Creator.More and more understandings are provided by more and more preachers. Those who follow have always accepted stories. The followers of such sermons eventually tire of them but The Creator keeps on leading people to search and sets the route.
One is inwardly content when one realizes the futility of searches for purpose of life and accepts the Creator alone can lead one to solutions. The Creator will do this of His own accord.
